Whether you live on the West Coast where cannabis is legal everywhere or in other parts of the country where medical is legal, you’ve no doubt noticed that vaping has become one of the most popular ways to consume cannabis. And the reasons make sense. Vaping is safer, more discreet, and provides near-precision dosing. Further, when it comes to portability, ease of use, affordability, functionality, and ease of use, vape cartridges can’t be beat. You can buy either pre-loaded vape cartridges or disposable vape pens. Both are great. But, you’re probably wondering how long does a vape cartridge last. We’ll do our best to give you an idea of how long a vape cartridge will last depending on your circumstances.
Vape Cartridges: How Long Do They Last?
You’re most likely wondering how long it would take to finish a vape cartridge vape cartridge, rather than what the shelf-life is. How long a vape cartridge will last depends on how often you’re using it and how much THC or CBD is in the cartridge. Most vape cartridges come with 500 mg of THC or CBD, although 250 mg and 1 g cartridges are also common.
Since 500 mg cartridges are the most popular, let’s use that as an example:
Each 500 mg cartridge has about 150 seconds of inhalation. So how long you pull for will influence how long it lasts. If you usually take one-second puffs, then the math is pretty easy. It will last you 150 puffs. If you take three puffs per day, it will last your 50 days. Not bad!
However, if you take longer pulls — say 3 seconds or 6 seconds, both of which are common — your cartridge obviously won’t last as long. If you take one 3 second drag per day, then it would also last 50 days. However, if you’re taking three per day, you’ll finish the cartridge in just a few weeks. And, if you’re doing 6 seconds, the time is half that.
How Does a Vape Cartridge Last for Most People?
The variables above give you a rough idea. In practice, if you talk to a variety of people, you’re going to get a wide variety of answers that depend on how they are using their cartridge. Let’s say, you’re using your cartridge recreationally (but infrequently) — let’s say a couple of times per week at the most — your vape cartridge could last months. Provided it’s just you using it, or you and your partner. If you’ve got other friends also using it — and one of them is notorious for bogarting — it will last for considerably less time.
Now, if you’re using your cartridge one time per day — let’s say for helping you sleep — it could easily last a month. If you take two 3 second puffs, that would be 25 days. However, if you’re using your cartridge to medicate a chronic condition that affects you throughout the day (like chronic pain) that requires you to medicate throughout the day, you might go thru your cartridge in a couple of weeks.
